view from the secretary

Well done everyone with the early marking last week the transporter with 886 birds onboard was away in good time. With a hot day expected the birds were away at 6.30 into a fresh South South West wind  at the home end at arrival time the temperature was rising but the birds made good time Harry McKeown took the top spot for the Flegg club vel 1670 just in front of Andy Woods & Kevin Batch at Horsford 1657 Mary Becker has two in the top 10 3rd & 7th vel 1650,1647 Franni Peruzzi wins Norfolk Inv on 1644 Roger Dawbarn down on the Suffolk border keeps Diss in the top 10 vel 1646 David Hicks has 4 in the top 10 vel 1646,1336,1632,1626 30 miles on from the winner Michael Harrod and Lewes Seaman get Ness Point in the result with 2 together.

Returns in general were good but did dry up a bit as the heat set in with a few missing at the close, I hear one or two got reported in Holland is it possible they crossed the wash and mist North Norfolk and kept going till they hit land there was little wind here so cannot explain why they would do that.

Next week we are at Arbroath NRCC after the good returns from Dunbar I would expect similar numbers for Arbroath but it would be wishful thinking to get another race like Dunbar

The weather for Laceby looks good with light winds, Arbroath could be tricky with some rain about at lib site Saturday and on route Sunday good luck.

As a backup could Secretarys obtain distances for ACKWORTH 4257 its a new site this year so we may well give it a try at some point at the same time get CAYTHORPE 4255
