A view from the Secretary

Well after a long layoff its time I got back to a few notes so following the sunniest May on record it came as no surprise to me that the week we were given the all clear to start racing came the rain with marking on the Saturday for a Sunday race 70 members came out of lock down to send 1,641 birds to Woking liberated at 6 – 25 into a Westerly wind the birds made good time with rain meeting many at the home end especially in Norfolk. The Western side of Ipswich S.R. members would take the top  honors with Rosa&Clarke having the top 3 Vel 1725,1723,1722 Dennis Ball wins Ipswich R.P.C  on 1719 only 2 birds from Diss to the loft of Steve Kaschner would stop an Ipswich clean sweep in 12 & 13th place vel 1656,1655, the partnership of E Alred&Son would win Kessingland on 1641 and be just outside the top 20.

Week two it was Maidstone not favoured  by some but like many race points it’s all down to the day and I still feel this is the best line, with Costessey & Flegg  sending and a better forecast 88 members sent 1,857 birds released at 7 – 45 into a light East wind and blue sky the birds had no problem dealing with the Thames crossing and seemed to follow the A12 line with Westerly lofts winning at Ipswich S.R. where Jim Wickham had the top 4 vel 1651,1649,1648,1646 as the birds tracked North Kath Terry at Gipping just West of the A140 has 4 together to win Diss  vel 1666, 1666 closely followed by club secretary Andrew& Craig Daniels on 1661,1660 and 1659 Top place goes to Bob Fenech&Son at Attleborough with the first 5  at Roudham and N&S on  1676,1676,1676,1675,1670 Terry Colk at Watton is in the cards in 12th on 1657

Eastbourne membership and birdage up again with 96 sending 2,017 birds same line as Maidstone and much the same race, with a touch of West in the wind it was Kath Terry who took the top honors on 1749 just pipping Tony Calver Ipswich S.R. into 2nd place vel 1741 David Fisher tops the Ipswich R.P.C  large entry of 351 in the 3rd place vel 1739 Colin Smith 4th vel 1736 Steve Kaschner takes 2nd Diss and 6th open vel1730 with a further 3 for Kath Terry Bob Fenech&Son are 13th for Roudham vel 1727 while Ken Whiting pulls one out for Hadleigh being shortest flyer in the result in 12th vel 1727  returns were very good

National Racing B.I.C.C. The first B.I.C.C. race from Falaise was a disappointing event for most with strong easterly winds taking the birds way out west and then having to fight there way back Peacock & Byrne having joined the N&S this year had only one race with us and top NE section not a bad advert, Simmons& Sparks are 2nd at Ipswich and a very good bird down at the most easterly point  Ness Point for M\M D Quantrill

Racing has been good with some good birdage all races have been won with vel of 1600 + a nice steady race would the order of the day
